Andre Kang was born in Taipei, Taiwan and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 1993 he moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to earn his telecommunications and photography degrees at the Sacred Heart University. In 1996 he was awarded an internship at the prestigious Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia (www.endi.com). A year later, he became a staff photographer at the newly launched Primera Hora newspaper (www.primerahora.com) where he currently works and has received numerous awards from the Puerto Rico Photojournalists Association, The Overseas Press Club, and the Puerto Rico Senate Mandin’s Award.
During his fourteen years at Primera Hora and three years at GFR Media, Kang has traveled abroad, covering a variety of news events such as
